Hi everyone and welcome to my first ever newsletter! 🎉
I’m so excited to share this with you and hope you enjoy reading it, find some useful takeaways, and maybe even pass it on to a friend.

💡 Topic of the Month: Let’s Talk About N.E.A.T! - Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis
So, what is N.E.A.T?Simply put, it’s all the activity you do that isn’t part of a planned workout. It’s the energy you burn through everyday movement—just by getting on with life!
🏡 Everyday Examples of N.E.A.T
- Household chores – even ironing (if you stay standing!) 
- Gardening – not really my thing… I kill everything 🌱 
- Leaf sweeping or snow clearing 
- Standing or pacing while on the phone (instead of sitting on your widening bum!) 
- Fidgeting – something I’m very good at! 
- Walking briskly instead of ambling 
- Fixing the car or doing a bit of DIY 
- Taking the stairs instead of the lift or escalator 
- Shopping – apparently I need to do more of that! 🛍️ 
- Playing with the kids or grandkids 
All these small movements help you burn calories, boost your metabolism, and keep your body active—without needing a formal workout session.
🔥 What Does “Thermogenesis” Mean?
It’s just a fancy word for energy expenditure—the calories you burn through movement and activity.Even the smallest actions throughout your day count toward your total daily energy burn.
⚙️ Tools to Help You Stay N.E.A.T
My current favourite tool? My smartwatch.
I have a desk job, and my watch nags me every hour to get off my bum and move. (And yes—I always listen!)
I also have two dogs and a cat who need walking—yes, the cat joins too! 🐾
My personal rule is: Make. It. Count.
If I’m:
- Walking the dogs → I walk fast 
- Going upstairs → I trot up, or go 2 steps at a time (burny legs!!!!) 
- Moving around the house or office → I move briskly 
- Cleaning or vacuuming → I do it with energy and intention 
Honestly, with the amount I eat, I’m convinced this is why I’m not the size of a house! 😄
